Record OTT Deal for a Record-Breaking Film

According to industry reports, Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights for Dhurandhar in a deal worth around ₹285 crore, setting a new benchmark for Indian films on streaming platforms. This amount crosses the previous OTT record of Pushpa 2, which reportedly sold its rights for an estimated ₹275 crores.

The deal not only speaks volumes to the film's massive commercial appeal but also reflects Netflix's confidence in its long-term streaming potential-a real vote of faith in a landscape where so many titles struggle to convert theatrical buzz into digital viewership.

A Phenomenal Run at the Box Office

Dhurandhar was released on 5 December 2025 and is directed by Aditya Dhar, starring Ranveer Singh with Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. The movie is a thrilling spy action that attracted viewers throughout the country and helped it cross the major milestones at the box office, including overpowering Kantara: Chapter 1 and Chhaava to become the top Indian film of the year in worldwide gross.

Its success wasn't limited to India; overseas collections were strong too, despite bans in some markets. With continued audience enthusiasm, Dhurandhar seemed poised for further milestones long after its theatrical debut.

OTT Premiere Set for Early 2026

While the movie is still running in theatres during the holiday season, it is expected to see a Netflix release on 30 January 2026, which would allow audiences who, for some reason, could not make it to big-screen entertainment to enjoy the spy saga from the comfort of their homes. The media houses are claiming that the dubbed versions might also be included, making the release grossly broad across regional audiences.

What This Means for Bollywood's Streaming Landscape

The ₹285 crore deal, if confirmed industry-wide, signals a significant shift in how streaming platforms value big theatrical hits.
