David Guetta Returns to Mumbai After 8 Years, Lights Up Sunburn Festival 2025
Mumbai's electronic music concert scene came alive on December 20, 2025, with the long-awaited return of one of the biggest names in global electronic music, David Guetta, who last performed in India eight years ago, headlining at the Sunburn Festival in Mumbai. This was a night that fans had been talking about for months, and Guetta did not disappoint, performing an electric set filled with chart-toppers and festival favourites late into the night.
Sunburn Festival Moves to Mumbai - and Bigger Than Ever

What was long associated with Goa's beaches is now an opportunity for Mumbai, as Sunburn Festival, which has long been known as Asia's largest electronic dance music festival, moved its flagship festival to Mumbai in 2025. This marks a first for Mumbai, which will experience a complete festival experience of three days, scheduled to happen at Infinity Bay, located at Sewri between December 19th and 21st, 2025.
This time around, the event featured an impressive lineup of artists, including Swedish House Mafia's Axwell, favorite festival performer Sara Landry, and more, all of whom joined Guetta to produce three nights of electrifying electronical beats. Some die-hard fans of electronic music, in fact, posted the updated range of ticket prices online.
Guetta's Set and the Monolith Experience
Guetta's performance, part of his signature "Monolith" tour production, lasted nearly one hour and forty minutes, combining his biggest hits, cutting-edge visuals, fireworks and euphoric drops that turned the venue into a sea of moving lights and waving flags. The crowd danced to all his classics and new songs written specifically for festivals.
Guetta's comeback was significant, given that this was the first time he was back in India since 2017, where he had held numerous performances. This left an indelible impact on the Indian EDM crowd.
A Dramatic Backstory: Nora Fatehi's Appearance
The night had its share of drama before the music even started. Popular Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi, who was supposed to join Guetta at the stage, met with an automobile accident earlier in the day while she was on her way to the festival. According to media reports, her vehicle was rammed by another, resulting in her suffering from a minor concussion. Despite medical advice to rest, she made it to the festival and energized the crowd with her performance alongside Guetta.
Sunburn's New Era in Mumbai
This year's Sunburn marks a new chapter for the festival, which started in 2007 and became a landmark of India's music culture. After many years of hosting festivals in Goa, a new event with a similar setup held in Mumbai has opened doors for event organizers to explore new options and possibilities.
However, not everything was smooth: ahead of the event, the Bombay High Court raised concerns about the decision to permit liquor sales at Sunburn, urging a review of policy and safety measures given the large crowds expected.
Why This Performance Matters
For Indian dance music enthusiasts, Guetta's comeback was like a second coming. His contribution to the EDM culture cannot be overlooked, and his presence at this festival, which was undergoing such significant transformation as Sunburn 2025, solidified the fact that Mumbai is becoming an important destination for live music performances.
Whether you were at Infinity Bay dancing under stars or following the buzz online, December 20 will be remembered as the night Guetta brought the house down in Mumbai once again, eight years later, louder and bigger than ever.
