Cricket World Cup 2023: Who thought that cricket and cupid could be entwined forever? We have listed foreign cricketers who fell in love with Indian women and tied the knot with them.

1. Glenn Turner and Sukhinder Kaur Gill
Glenn Turner captained New Zealand in ten Tests, and he managed New Zealand's teams in Australia and England in 1985-86, and was reappointed in 1995. Sukhinder Kaur fell in love with the batting of Glenn Turner, and got married in July 1973. Kaur has been the youngest, first non-European, and first woman to be elected to the Dunedin Mayoralty. Their interracial marriages, as well as love marriage, were quit rare during the 70s but their bond has only grown stronger with time.
2. Shaun Tait and Mashoom Singha
Shaun Tait is considered one of the fastest bowlers of all time and he was a member of the Australian team that won the 2007 Cricket World Cup. He fell in love with an Indian woman Mashoom Singha, who was a model in Mumbai. After dating for several months, the two got married on 12 June 2014. Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan also attended their wedding ceremony.
3. Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza
Shoaib Malik is the highest run scorer for Pakistan in T20s with more than 1821 runs. People of both countries saw the blossoming of love between Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis player Sania Mirza. Despite heavy criticism, Shoaib and Sania maintained their humility, stayed in love, and got married to each other on 12 April 2010. Also, post-marriage, Sania Mirza has not given up her Indian citizenship.
4. Muttiah Muralitharan and Madhimalar Ramamurthy
Madhimalar Ramamurthy of Chennai fell in love with the best bowler of Sri Lanka Muttiah Muralitharan. He is the only bowler to take 800 Test wickets and more than 530 One Day International (ODI) wickets. The couple got married on 21 March 2005. They also had a son in 2006.
5. Zaheer Abbas and Rita Luthra
Zaheer Abbas is considered as one of the finest batsmen in the history of Cricket. In 1982/1983, he became the first batsman to score three consecutive centuries in one-day internationals. In 1980, Abbas met Rita in London, who was an interior designer and loved cricket. They fell in love with each other and tied the knot in 1988. Rita accepted Islam and the name Rita changed to Samina Abbas. Currently, the couple resides in Karachi.
