The Bollywood Megastar and Hollywood's all time crush, Amitabh Bachchan, is a man who works with many wounds. The word wound here is implied for both physical and mental scars. There was a time when the superstar was the victim of media gossip, of financial trauma and family struggles. All this took toil on his health and career.

Talking of health, from the very beginning Amitabh Bachchan has been prone to accidents. This meeting with mishap starts from the his days in Kolkata. While in Kolkata, the actor had developed a lump on his shoulder. While operating the lump, the doctor by mistake ruptured the nerve connecting his shoulder to his arms. The following surgery, left his arm lose. The trade mark walking style of Amitabh Bachchan, with a lean on one side, is the gift of this surgery.

Then there was the famous 'Coolie' accident. In a fight sequence, the co actor had hit his stomach hard and this had made Amitabh Bachchan stumble over a table. This had punctured his intestine. The cause was the punch or the table is not known. The actor had to undergo 2 operations. The first one had infused too many impurities into the actor and thus the second one was necessary. The impurities were infused due to blood transfusion. 18 holes were made time and again, into his stomach, so that all the impurities could flow out.

Everytime, after the impurities had flown out, the holes would heal leaving behind scars. Multiple operations have led to multiple hernias in his lower abdomen. This risk was fated by the doctors, much before. An operation was adviced but Amitabh Bachchan ignored it. This delay has given rise to two major hernias on either side of his abdomen, which is very painful. Now, an operation seems inevitable.

The charming look which pulls his fans by the mystic string has also gone under the several checkups. Few years back, he started getting light flashes on his right eyes. Doctors diagnosed, that his retina was coming lose. His palm was also once engulfed with fire during Diwali.

With all the wear and tear, Amitabh Bachchan stands tall and steady, reining Bollywood. The superstar is not only a hero in film but in real life too. Combating all the sufferings with a smile on face is an act of a hero. The tough time has not eroded the charm and persona of Amitabh Bachchan.
