Actress Whoopi Goldberg was recently honoured with the Marlon Brando Award at the 2009 Stella by Starlight Gala for her achievement in Hollywood. Whoopi Goldberg received the award with an emotional note on her late friend.

Marlon Brando was Whoopi Goldberg"s friend and a legendary actor. She never acted with him but shared a close friendship.

Whoopi Goldberg convinced that the award is great just because it is named after a good man. The gala that took place in New York was aimed to raise money for the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
