Color Me 'Pink'

The village is located near the Gondal in Rajkot District of Gujarat. The initiation to paint the village pink came from the village's prominent family, the Gayatri's. According to Chandubhai, the family chose the color pink, as it is the color of God.
"We all wanted to make the Patidad village as the ideal village of the State. People talk about Jaipur as pink city, so we chose the pink colour to paint the whole village. We painted entry gate, schools, colleges with pink colour. The reason why we chose pink colour is because pink is the colour of God," said Chandubhai Patel, a man behind the project.
Every thing from the temples to the gates have been painted pink. Various religious quotes from mythological texts adorn the walls of the village. These verses inspire the people and are mainly from Bhagvata Gita. The new change has been well received by the villagers.
"We never thought that our village would turn out to be nice like this. Because of Gayatri parivar our village has got this look, from entry gate to every nook and corner. I don't think there would any other village like ours painted in pink, " said Dhol Payal, a villager.
There is another 'Pink Village', the Bhammoriya village which is located 35 kilometers from Jaipur. The color pink is considered to be patent of the Rajput hospitality.
