A magazine that carried John Lennon's opinion that the Beatles ranked high in popularity than Jesus has attracted a whopping bid of 12,713 US dollars.

The magazine that has caused the sensation, 'Datebook', September 1966 issue, features a picture of 'John C Lennon' with his signature above it, says the 'Daily Express'

The late musician had said in the magazine "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that; I'm right and I will be proved right.

“We're more popular than Jesus now. I don't know which will go first - rock'n'roll or Christianity."

An orthopaedic surgeon at New York's Mount Sinai Medical Centre has made the winning bid in the online auction run by RR Auction of Amherst, New Hampshire. The auction was on for 17 days.
