Leonid Stadnyk's literally stepped into a giant's boots after a brain surgery when he was 14 years old. He developed a pituitary gland tumor which triggered the secretion of growth hormone in abundance and was visited by the phase called acromegalic gigantism. It brought an unusual growth in him. This gentle giant is in the business of curing animals and always plays his role as a veterinary surgeon with perfection .

On August 8, 2007 Stadnyk's (2.57m (8 ft 5.2 in), was officially acknowledged as the world's living tallest man by the Guinness book's, thereby fitting into the space which was previously occupied by Bao Xishun, a native of Inner Mongolia in China in the 2008th edition of the record book. Bao Xishun stands 2.36 m (7 ft 8.9 in) well above the ground. Initially, Stadnyk gave a cold shoulder to the advancements made by the GWR by expressing his objections towards getting measured . However In 2007, the Guinness World Records finally got the opportunity of scaling him down and was later crowned as the world's tallest man. Stadnyk behemothian status has always been brought under scanner. Question marks were raised on the legitimacy of the record. Even, the news of Stadnyk getting measured by GWR was referred as a hoax.

Leonid Stadnyk's height made things much precarious for him when it grew by 2 cm (0.79) in the previous year. The tumor which was the root cause of all his worries was uprooted surrealistically after a span of 20 years and his incessant and unwanted growth was finally handcuffed.
