Bucharest is back in the news for a new world record after the longest sausage and biggest Christmas give-away. This time the bakers got in to their aprons to bake the heaviest cake in the world.

The cream and fruit cake weighing 619 pounds had the dressings of the Romanian and European Union flags and also a new year message. The cake had been commissioned by the capital for the winter festivities.

A document was handed to the Mayor Sorin Oprescu certifying the accomplishment by a representative for the annually published reference book, as reported by Telegraph. The delicious cake was savored by various residents and children who were present to wittiness the enormous feat.

Earlier the year, Bucharest also set the record, after 3,939 people dressed like Santa Claus went along distributing presents to the street children. The city also holds the title for the longest smoked sausage, measuring 1,286 feet long and weighing over 330 pounds. AGENCIES
