Quran Recitation Competition
A grand Quran recitation competion adds verirty to the festive season, after the worldwide celebration of the Eid-ul-fitr.

A Muslim seminary organised an international Quran recitation competition, 'Kirat-e-Quran', here today to propagate the teachings of the holy book of Islam.

Religious reciters known as 'qaris' from across the world took part in the event. They described the competition as a great contribution to the cause of peace, harmony and brotherhood worldwide."Islam is a peaceful religion. If such competitions continue, with god's grace the petty animosities and enmity would diminish," said Abul Nabeed Qasmi, a participant.

"We organised this competition for the world to know the holy scripture of Quran, a book that has come directly from heaven to bless all of us. The day its importance is lost, it will spell doom for the whole world," said Ansar Ul Hasan Siddiqui, organizer.

The participants hoped that with more such competitions, the faith and love among people of various religions would revive. Muslims believe the Qur'an to be the book of divine guidance and direction for mankind, and consider the original Arabic text to be the final revelation of God.

The scholars lamented that across the world their community has been accused of terrorism and said Islam has always preached the message of peace and harmony."To participate in the event one needs to have a very melodious voice, Quran propagates the message of humanity as said by Allah. Whenever such events are organised, it is only to spread these teachings to every nook and corner of the world," said Mohammed Ahmed, a participant from Mumbai.

Islam holds that the Qur'an was revealed to Muhammad by the angel Jibrîl (Gabriel) over a period of 23 years. The Qur'an purports to be the main miracle of Muhammad, thus its inimitability validates his status as a prophet. Muslims regard the Qur'an as the culmination of a series of divine messages that started with those revealed to Adam, regarded in Islam as the first prophet, and continued with the Suhuf.

With such and many more events will surely help for a better understanding about the religion of Islam.
