Nandita Das Directorial Debut 'Firaaq' Wins Award

"Firaaq' won a special prize conferred by the Minister of Culture and given by the Mayor of Macedonia. It had also grabbed a cash prize as well.
Author Salman Rushdie had introduced the film at all the screenings during the festival and had conversed with Nandita at the Question and Answer session too.
"I would not have thought of a better place to showcase the film. It is a festival for the movie-buffs and here I will know how it relates with the audiences. Here the expectations are very high and the competition is very tough, as there are so many exceptional flicks from all over the world, so it would be a tough battle," Nandita said in a release here today.
The 49th Thessaloniki Film Festival, an extremely prestigious film festival and among the highly praised festivals in the world, was held from November 14-23.
