IPL Cheerleaders Under Fire

IPL is under fire after few politicians turned against the cheerleaders, labeling their performance as vulgar and against Indian culture. They accuse it as an action to import American culture to India. The Hindu extremist party Shivsena is all set to ban this 'unforgivable' act of shame in India.
The Bharatiya Janata Party president of Maharashtra, said that it is degrading to women and should be banned. "If the state has banned dance bars, then how is it allowing vulgar dances by the scantily-clad cheerleaders in the Indian Premier League matches?" he asked.
Most of the cheerleaders have been imported from abroad. Their dress consists of mini skirts, push up bras and midriff-revealing vests.
Some cheerleaders complain that, apart from politicians lewd comments and insults from spectators are also making their job a misery.
Mumbai police has told that cheerleaders will not be banned from Indian Premier League cricket matches. However, they may have to shed their skimpy outfits and should appear with descent dress which would not make their performance vulgar.
