Guinness Record For Marathon Singing
{image- www.boldsky.com}Mangalore : Various singing groups made it to the Guinness Book of World Records by singing non-stop for 40 hours at Vamanjoor on the outskirts of the city, last night.
As the clock struck 2200 hrs, the 'Mandd Sobhann' troupe wound up the show to a thunderous applause, obliterating the earlier record of 36 hours of non-stop singing held by Communidade Evangilica Luterana at Sao Paulo of Brazil.
After all the troupes put in sincere efforts to make it to the Guinness book, 'Kepechim Kirnam' troupe handed over the baton to hosts 'Mandd Sobhann', who rendered 'Konkani Niranthari'.
Following the performance, Chief Adjudicator Keith Pullin announced that the 40 hour marathon singing had been recognised by the Guinness book. The waiting crowd could not control their joy and started celebrating to the accompaniment of Harry's Band.
Mr Pullin, who handed over the official certificate to the organiser Mandd Sobhann, said "it is amazing. I have experienced something inexplicable in the last couple of days. Everyone has done a wonderful job. Your effort has been outstanding to say the least and that has been recognised by the Guinness book.
