Teri Irwin (Steve Irwin's widow ) fled from an awards ceremony in tears after watching TV clips speaking about her husband's death. Teri broke down after organisers at The Logie Awards - Australia's television industry awards played tearful scenes of the moment she learnt Steve had suffered a fatal attack.
Family friend John Stainton said: "It was awful. Truly, they couldn't have picked a worse clip. She was devastated when that clip was shown and the fact the cameras were cutting to her. She didn't know where to look or what to do." Teri had no idea the clip was going to be shown at the event in Melbourne. Organisers of the bash, the biggest night in Australian TV, apologised to Teri for the insensitive decision. The Channel Nine network, which filmed the program featuring the clip, won an award for the exclusive scoop, following 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve's shock death from a stingray attack.
