Priyanka Gandhi's Big Land
Shimla, Oct 8 (UNI) Congress (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Vadhera left for New Delhi today after inspecting her four and half biga of land at Moshobra, near here, official sources said.
She was accompanied by her husband and children who visited the land near the Kalyani Helipad on the outskirts of the town, the sources, requesting anonymity, told UNI here.
The sources said she was accompanied by senior district Congress vice president Kehar Singh Khacchi, who has been given power of attorney by Ms Vadhera, to her land to have an idea of the proposed building to be constructed on it.
Mr Khacchi told reporters later that the Gandhi scion has expressed her desire to construct a simple house of stone and wood that are common in the state, adding that construction would start soon.
The family was consulting various architects at Delhi to draw a map of the proposed house, he said.
The Himachal Pradesh Government had given her special permission to buy land in the state by amending Section 118 of the Land Reforms and Tenancy Act 1972 to enable her to buy the land, which cannot be sold to non-agriculturists (Himachalis or outsiders).
