enters home video market
Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) , world's second largest optical storage manufacturer, has entered home video market in Tamil Nadu with 101 Tamil titles.
Versatile actor Kamal Hassan launched the first title and also unveiled the entire catalogue range display shelf, which would be installed at key retail outlets, at a glittering function here last night.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO-Entertainmnet Business Harish Dayani said the company would release video content on DVD and Video CD formats using its proprietary and patented technology to enhance quality and reduce costs.
This would enable to revolutionize the quality-price parity and offer unprecedented value for the consumers, he added.
India Managing Director Ratul Puri said the company had already lined up 41 distributors in Tamil Nadu and stocks would be available in around 7,000 outlets to begin with.
He said 's new division was in final negotiations to acquire copyrights/exclusive licence of more than 7,000 titles in all major Indian languages which comprised a third of all movies produced till date in India.
According to research, India had over 26 million DVD/VCD users, growing at a healthy clip of over 25 per cent and comprising about a fourth of all TV ownership in the country.
Despite the huge potential market, home video market was almost the same revenue size as that of the theatrical market.
