Jennifer Lopez Faces Lawsuit
Jennifer Lopez has been ordered to testify in response to a lawsuit which claims she stole the idea for her TV show 'South Beach'.Writer Jack Bunick filed a lawsuit last year alleging the idea for the now-cancelled series was modelled on a 1999 pilot episode for his show 'South Beach Miami'.
Judge Henry Pitman has ordered executive producer Lopez to provide her sworn testimony in the case by June 11.
Lopez's lawyer Orin Snyder claims Bunick sued "for tactical reasons, in an apparent attempt to obtain some perceived leverage by targeting and harassing a celebrity in a case where she has no meaningful testimony to give and no legitimate reason for being named as a defendant in the first place".
In February, Snyder argued that Lopez was not heavily involved in the creation and development of 'South Beach'.
Bunick is seeking unspecified damages and an injunction banning any future broadcasts of 'South Beach', which was cancelled in February 2006 after only eight episodes. The show focused on Miami's exuberant modelling and nightclub scene.
