ISRO team presents PSLV replica
New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) A team of scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) led by ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair today called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and presented him a replica of the PSLV-C7, successfully launched from Sriharikota on January 10 to put in orbit four satellites.
Dr Singh, who holds the portfolio of Space, congratulated the scientists on the successful mission and lauded their team work and leadership for taking India's space programme across another significant milestone.
Calling for the involvement of more women scientists in space programmes, the Prime Minister said India was in a position to take even greater strides.
During the 30-minute meeting at his official residence at 7 Race Course Road, the scientists, who numbered more than ten, also presented a replica of the space recovery vehicle to the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, all the four satellites injected into space by PSLV-C7, including India's Cartosat-2 and SRE-1, are functioning well, according to Dr Nair, who is also Secretary in the Department of Space.
