Dravid hails Sehwag century
Port of Spain, Mar 20 (UNI) Indian skipper Rahul Dravid today hailed Virender Sehwag's return to form with a blistering century against Bermuda and said the team expects more from him in the World Cup.
He (Sehwag) played well and we expect more from him,'' Dravid told mediapersons after India's record setting victory over Bermuda at the Queen's Park Oval here.
''It is never been about me backing Virender Sehwag. He is a very good player and a key member of the team. He got into the form at the critical point which was important for us. He has been putting lot of efforts in the net and his approach has been fantastic for me to watch.''
I knew he is a few knocks away from a big one. There are certain things Viru does when he is close to a purple patch that I saw in him today,'' he said while explaining at length why he has so much of confidence in Sehwag.
Dravid was all praise for his boys saying, ''We achieved what we wanted today. We set ourselves a margin that would be better than Sri Lanka though their (Bermuda) innings lasted longer than we expected.'' ''But the fact is that towards the end pitch became flat and there was nothing in it for the bowlers and that is why their only professional player David Hemp got going.
He took chances which came off as the wicket was quiet easy to bat on,'' Dravid said.
Asked if he was worried about reported angry reactions back home after the loss to Bangladesh, the Indian captain replied, ''As long as safety of our families and parents is not effected, I will not lose sleep over a few people burning effigy or shouting Rahul Dravid hai hai on the roads.'' ''As I have said earlier there is a huge media explosion, you have to accept it and cope with it.'' Regarding India's chances against Sri Lanka, the skipper said, ''There are some things that are in our control, like winning our two matches. But if net run rate come into play, that is not in our control. What we must try is to focus on what we cam control and hope the other things fall into place as well.''
