By Super Admin

Srinagar, Oct 18 (UNI) Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today launched seven FM Rainbow India channels in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The channels were launched simultaneously from Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Poonch, Bhaderwah, Nowshera and Rajouri.

Inaugurating the channels from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) here, Mr Dasmunsi said these would help in developing greater interaction between the youth of the state through the medium of 'Akashvani' (radio).

He said the channels would help in promoting the local talent and in expanding the network of radio programmes in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said for a long time a need was felt to start FM channels in the state as these had spread far and wide of the country and were a hit with the youth.

''The youth want to listen to new songs and programmes on FM channels and interact with each other through these. With the launch of seven FM channels in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, the youth of the state will also get an opportunity to listen and participate in interactive programmes,'' he added.
