Mebo Festival shows Arunachal culture
Itanagar, Dec 07 (UNI) The two-day Youth Festival beginning from December 14 next would be celebrated with a difference at Mebo, a picturesque town criss-crossed by the tributaries of mighty Brahmaputra, under East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. With 'committed to service' as the motto of the festival, youth representatives from all 16 districts of the state would showcase the rich cultural mosaic of this tribal state, which would be made more colourful with the participation of neighbouring states and cine stars from Bollywood, said Trade and Commerce Minister Lombo Tayeng, the brain behind the mega event.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang, who had announced 2006 as 'the year of the youth' to recognise and channelise the youth forces for the development of the state, would formally inaugurate the festival along with Celina Jaitely, Miss India turned Bollywood actress, while chairman cum managing director Oil India Limited M R Pasrija and Bollywood actress Kim Sharma would be the special invitees of the concluding function on December 15. Apparel show-cum-beauty contest in traditional, modern and formal wears would be the special attraction of the festival where Arunachalee damsels in their best attires would sashay down the ramps. 2005 and 2006 beauty queens (unmarried) of each district have been invited to take part in the beauty show, Mr. Tayeng informed.
