Mumbai, Nov 28 (UNI) Mona Singh of ''Jassi Jaisi Ko Nahin'' fame has joined the Surf Excel 10/10 donation drive, a public campaign to raise funds towards the education of underserved children.

Surf Excel has joined hands with the NGO Pratham for the same as the beneficiary partner. Mona was inspired by this unique initiative by veteren actor Anupam Kher. She visited the Pratham Shelter Home and spent time with the children as a part of the initiative.

Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) has taken up the Surf Excel 10/10 initiative to sponsor the education of the underserved children, who belong to the Bainganwadi slums of Govandi. They were child labourers and rag pickers living around the dumpyard areas. They have been rescued by Pratham and put into local BMC schools for education.

These children will benefit from the funds raised from the Surf Excel 10/10 donation drive which will be utilised for the next few years towards their education.

Mona said, ''Pratham has done a marvellous job by rescuing them from the hard clutches of child labour and now Surf has extended a helping hand to provide these children with quality education. I always wanted to do something for children and the Surf Excel 10/10 donation drive has give me this opportunity.''
