5th volume of Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia releas
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss today released the 5th volume of Ayurveda Pharmacopoeia of India at a function here.
The Ayurveda Pharmacopoeia consists of 93 monographs of single Ayurvedic drugs used in different formulations. The book is a guide for Ayurvedic pharmaceuticals to maintain the quality of their products and provide a baseline for scientists who want to know about different single drugs used in Ayurveda.
Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh was among those present on the occasion.
The volume incorporates the work by Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia Committee comprising experts of various inter-related fields and different laboratories engaged in standardising these drugs.
At
present
about
1,000
single
drugs
and
8,000
compound
formulations
are
used
in
the
Ayurveda
system
including
drugs
of
plants,
animal
and
mineral
origin
both
single
and
compound
formulations.
