More than five lakh devotees, including those from foreign lands, offered worship during the holy month of 'Shravan' at this ancient temple town's world-renowned Mahakaleshwar shrine, one of India's dozen 'jyotirlingas'. ''The daily figure exceeded 10,000 while each Saturday, Sunday and Monday witnessed in excess of 20,000 devotees,'' said Mahakaleshwar Management Committee Administrator Shubhkaran Sharma.
On 'Nag Panchami', more than a lakh persons paid their respects at Nagchandrashekar's shrine that opens only on a single day annually. It is within the sprawling Mahakalsehwar premises.
