arshad warsi
By Taran Adarsh, IndiaFM
Most actors face one problem in their careers. The moment a film hits the bull's eye and their character gets appreciated, they are inundated with roles that bear a striking similarity to the one that made them famous. It's happened with the biggest of stars, including Big B, SRK and Salman Khan. But, gradually, most actors decide to break the monotony and opt for the unchartered path.
Arshad Warsi, who got a new lease of life with MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S., has been seen in a series of funny man roles of late and that's what is bothering him. "There's more to me than playing a funny man in film after film. I don't want to limit myself to one kind of roles. It gets claustrophobic, believe me," Arshad tells me, "I want serious and different roles to come my way. But the problem is that the roles I usually get belong to the same variety and that leads to repetitiveness."
So what's his gameplan now? "I have had my fill of comic roles. I am not refusing them, but I have definitely cut down on roles that have the same texture. I want to try out various shades," he adds. Let's see if Arshad is able to break the shackles!
