Imphal, Oct 30 (UNI) All roads in Imphal meet at the Rupmahal theatre, where the 24th All Manipur Drama Festival is on.
Thousands of people throng at the festival site much early in an attempt to have best seat at the hall.
Manipur State Kala Akademi is organising the festival, which is going to be an annual event to support the play movement in the state.
Manipur has produced internationally acclaimed directors like Ratan Thiyam, Kanhailal and such festival would help in grooming up new young talents, an akademy official said.
So far the response from the people was good and about 20 plays will be presented during the festival. Most of the plays are based on historical events and some are modern plays, he said.
Historical play like Rajarshi Bhagyachandra, the Manipur king who introduced Ras Leela and popularized Hinduism in Manipur in the 18th century of Banian Repertory theatre which was presented yesterday attracted huge crowd, he said.
