Best Ways To Clean A Kitchen Knife
Knife is used throughout the day. There are different types of knives that are used in the kitchen. As knife is used extensively, it becomes prone to bacteria an germs. Even rust is one of the common problems seen in old knives.
If left unused, knives develop rust. So, cleaning the knives is very important. Moreover, you need to make sure that the knife's sharpness is retained and not lost. We wash the knife after every use, but most of us are unaware of the breeding bacteria and germs that accumulate in the corners. So, here are some of the ways to clean a kitchen knife and keep it bacteria-free.
Ways To Clean A Kitchen Knife:

Soap: Scrub dish washing soap on the knife. Rinse with hot water. Hot water works the best as it kills the bacteria and also removes stains. Cold water might not be the best way to clean a knife.
Boiling: If the knife doesn't have plastic on it, you can boil it in hot water for a minute. Boiled water kills the bacteria and also removes stains from it. Once you dip the knife into the boiling water, make sure you turn off the flame. Hot water also helps get rid of grease and oil from the knife. If you have chopped onions or garlic and other strong aromatic ingredients, washing in hot water is one of the best ways to clean a knife. Do not wash the knife with cold water immediately. A sudden change from hot to cold water can spoil the metal.
Lemon: You can wash your dirty knife with lemon slice. Lemon is a citrus fruit that has a strong aroma. It also acts as a bleaching agent. To clean dirty corners of the kitchen knife, use lemon. However, make sure you do not wash the knife with lemon for a long time. Rinse with cold water. You can also add a few drops of lemon juice in boiling water if you are following the previous method.
Vinegar: This is one of the ways to clean a kitchen knife. In boiling water, add a few drops of vinegar. Soak in hot water for about a minute. Scrub with an old toothbrush and remove the softened crud and scrape them away. Rinse with warm water and let it air dry.
These are the three best ways to clean a kitchen knife. After trying these cleaning ways, make sure you air dry the knife and then coat it with some cooking oil. With the help of a paper towel, wipe off excess oil.
