Hygiene: Proper hygiene and sanitation keeps bed bugs at bay! Wet bed mattress or a bed sheet is a home to bed bugs. Always clean the bed and use fresh bed sheets. Wash your bed sheets and pillow covers once every week. To prevent the growth of germs and bacteria, put the mattress, pillows and cushions out in the sun. The ultraviolet rays of the sun kills germs and also helps you get rid of bed bugs.

Use iron: Wet and damp bed increases the growth of bed bugs. To get rid of bed bugs naturally, use a hot iron. Just iron your bed sheet and pillows. The hot moisture kills bed bugs. Make it a point to read the label on your mattress. Some mattresses fabric gets spoiled due to hot iron.

Vacuum clean: Vacuum cleaning should be a weekly task. It not only removes dirt and germs, but also kills bed bugs. Vacuum cleans your bed, pillows and cushions. See that all the small nooks and corners are covered. Make it a routine to vacuum clean your bed and prevent the chances of getting bed bugs.

Cover small holes: If your bed is placed in front of the walls, you have to be more cautious. If you find small holes on your wall and cover them up immediately. Open holes are a road for ants, cockroaches, lizards and bed bugs to enter the house.

Wash bed sheet: As mentioned earlier, wash bed sheet, pillow and cushion covers weekly. Use boiling hot water to clean the fabric. Do not forget to dry in a dryer. Dryer and hot water kills the germs and also maintains hygiene.

These are few ways to get rid of bed bugs naturally. If you have bed bug bites, you have to be careful so that you do not damage your skin. Do not scratch the skin or the red bump. Scratching the bump will only worsen the bite. To cure the itchy bug bite, apply ointment that are available in the pharmaceutical stores. The bite will decrease in a day or two!
