The kitchen exhaust fan collects grease and lot of oil while cooking. These stains or rather oil coat on the exhaust fan doesn't go off easily therefore keeping the ventilation dirty and unhygienic. The stains of oil or grease also spread on the wall or window surrendering the exhaust fan. Following are ways to clean kitchen exhaust fan at home.

Ways clean exhaust fan:

1. Always turn off the switch and power supply to avoid injury. Remove the attached exhaust fan from its place. Open the blades and detach them from the fan.

2. Soak them in hot water with detergent for 15-20 minutes. Rub with a soft brush or scoring pad to clean the blades.

3. If the oil layer doesn't go after using hot water then, use an unsharpened knife to scratch off the layer. Don't exert much pressure to prevent the blades from bending.

4. Use lemon juice to clean kitchen exhaust fan. This is an easy way to remove oil stains from the fan blades.

5. Add ammonia and baking soda to hot water and soak the blades for 10-15 minutes. Use a brush to remove oil stains.

6. To remove oil from the mesh/filter of the exhaust fan, spray or put some water mixed with ammonia. Leave it for an hour and then use a scoring pad to clean the filter.

7. You can also use vinegar as a way to clean kitchen exhaust fan. Mix vinegar and hot water and rub the mixture on the fan. Use a soft brush to scratch the dirty grease.

Use these ways to clean exhaust fan and remove oil or grease from it.
