Store the potatoes for more than 2 weeks also known as chitting, it is a method where the potatoes are stored for few days or weeks so that they start sprouting eyes. When the sprouts come out, cut the potatoes and plant in the raised bed. Make sure the cut potatoes have two or more eyes. It is easy to grow such potatoes. When the leaves turn brown, the potatoes are ready to harvest.
Garbage bag or trash bag method: It is another common way to grow potatoes. Chit the potatoes and when they are sprouted, cut them into two pieces (each piece having more than two eyes). Cover the potato pieces in paper for 24 hours. Prepare a light soil mixture so that the roots and shoots grow easily. Add few dead leaves and compost to help grow the vegetable easily. Now fill a garbage bag with this soil till 4 inches. Make some small holes in the bag to allow drainage. Roll the bag cover a little down from the top layer of soil. Plant 5 potato chits per garbage bag; one on the middle and 4 like a circle around the center one. Dig them inside the soil and water thoroughly. When the leaves become brown, gently dig inside or tear the bag from sides. Take out the potato and leave for 24 hours. Do not wash the skin, just rub to remove the soil from it.
