Maintaining the evergreen garden by pruning or trimming is easy and is good to ensure the growth and good health of the bushes. It also keeps the evergreen plants in shape. But there are few tips to maintain the evergreen gardens:
- Water the evergreen garden often and keep the soil moist during the first year. After the completion first year, water the plants once in week especially during the dry weather. Even water the plants during the winter to avoid the roots from freezing.

- Pruning of the evergreen plants in the garden should be done before the growth of new leaves. In short, early spring time is the best for pruning evergreen plants like pine. Pruning also clears the dead branches or leaves from the plant and allows the growth of new, healthy buds. Use sharp pair of pruning shears to trim the garden plants.
- Pruning should be done to maintain the shape of the plants and avoid it from spreading in different directions.
- Maintaining the small plants is easy so cut the plant branches to prevent it from growing tall and making it unmanageable to maintain.
- Use wire template over the bushes to shape the evergreen shrubs and escape it from expanding. Trim the parts of plant which comes out of the wire. It is the easiest way of maintaining evergreen gardens. Plants like spruce, juniper and arbovitae needs frequent trimming to keep it in shape.
- While pruning the garden, do it in a way to thin out the plants as cutting just the outside foliage will stop the inner foliage from receiving light therefore leading to the drying of branches.
