Diwali 2023: Must-Have Home Decor Items For That Will Light Up Your Living Space
Diwali brings a celebratory mood, a festival of getting together, reflecting on the past year, and ushering in the new year with zeal and enthusiasm. The cleaning and de-cluttering bring in a renewed sense of hope and mindfulness.
Then comes the decorating and revamping of homes for the celebration. Except it doesn't have to burn a hole in your pocket. Let's see some essential home décor items for this Diwali.

For Your Entrance Foyer
Homes adorn enormous Rangolis on the occasion of Diwali. Get creative with traditional Rangoli designs with vibrant colours or go for shop-bought Rangoli stencils. Place diyas and tealights to attract attention. Hang traditional paper lanterns outside homes or on balconies. String lights, garlands of flowers, and wall hangings will only enhance the entrance décor. An accent wall with textured paint or decals is another cost-effective method to decorate.
For Your Living Room
Change the setting of the furniture to bring in the festive spirit by preparing your home for entertaining an endless list of guests. Decorate the living room to design an inviting ambience. Create a focal point and centre your furniture around it. Avoid pushing furniture against the wall. Be imaginative while using décor items and centrepieces. Choose the showpiece according to the theme and the chosen colour scheme. A chandelier can bring in a show of opulence. If you prefer minimalistic settings, you can go for lampshades with soft lights.
For Your Pooja Room
Beautify the pooja room with floor lamps, urlis, and diyas. Give special attention to the details, as it will be the most visited room during the festivities. Wash and clean the idols before you start bedecking them. Fresh flowers and incense will heighten the feeling of cheerfulness and devotion. Use indoor plants placed in metal or ceramic pots as décor items.
For Your Food Table
Mix and match table runners and placemats with contrasting colours, textures, designs, and fabrics. Have a centrepiece on the dining table and decorate it with lights and flowers. Take out your treasured heirloom porcelain. Bowls full of delicious food make for interesting décor. Add that extra glam by embellishing the chairs and tables with garlands and wall hangings.
For Your Private Space
You don't have to neglect your private space during all this time. Changing the linen and bedding to subtle colours. This will bring in the necessary calm after joyful events. To build a festive mood contrast subtle bedding with bright cushions. Place an accent chair to relax after all the enjoyment. Juxtapose soft furnishings of different textures, colours, and fabrics.
For Your Balcony
Wall hangings, string lights, garlands, and lanterns are traditional Diwali decorations that set the tone for the party. You can place terracotta idols and show pieces for a diverse balcony décor. Frame paintings and pictures of your loved ones to make an accent wall. Throw in some lights on your pots and plants to illuminate your balcony.
Don't Forget The Corners
Identify the nooks and crannies of your house and pay special attention to brightening them. Use flower decorations and rangolis for optimum use of the corners. You can place urlis with fresh flowers, floating candles, and diyas. Scented candles, frankincense, and potpourri in corners will spread the fragrance to distant corners of the house. You may also use accent pieces in the corners to form a distinct taste. Be innovative and unique for this festival of lights.
