1. Washing towels

You should avoid washing towels with detergent in warm water as it may weaken the fabric slowly. Washing them in warm water not only weakens the yarn but also fades the colour of the fabric. If you want to keep your towel in good condition, you should add vinegar and baking soda to the water instead of a detergent. Give two washes to your towel, one with vinegar and the second one with baking soda.

2. Unshrinking cloths

Washing clothes in hot or warm water or drying them under direct sunlight can shrink the fabric. However, in order to bring them to normal size, make use of baby shampoo. Take the shrunken piece of cloth and put it in lukewarm water. Now add some baby shampoo to it and lather properly. Baby shampoo will allow the fabrics to relax and come back to normal.

4. The towel trick

If you want some clothes to dry quickly, just toss a dry towel in there for 15-20 minutes. You will be surprised to see that all the garments around the towel are dry which is because the dry towel helps to absorb the moisture from the surrounding clothes.

5. Lemon/baking soda trick

Most of us end up having armpit stains on our clothes and if it is on a white garment, the dress looks shabby and untidy. Well, in order to get rid of the yellow/grey armpit stains, you should be using lemon juice and baking soda. Add one cup of lemon juice and 2 spoons of baking soda to water and soak the cloth in this liquid for 15-20 minutes. Wash normally and rinse off with cold water.

6. How to prevent colour fading

In order to prevent colour fading, add 1-2 spoons of salt while washing the cloth. However, if you are washing the cloth for the first time, it is advisable to soak the garment in salt water separately for 30 minutes. Salt allows the dye of the cloth to set properly thus preventing fading.

7. Prevent colour fading of dark colours

You should follow the inside out hack to prevent fading of dark colours. You should prevent drying dark colour clothes under the sun. It is always better to wash and dry them following the inside out hack.

8. Treat stinky jeans

Wondering about how to treat your stinky jeans? Well, then keeping them in the refrigerator can help to kill the bacteria causing the odour. Fold your denim and seal it in a plastic bag. Now put it into the refrigerator and see the difference after 10 hours.

9. Caffeinate your jeans

If you feel your black jeans has lost its lustre and colour, try to soak them in a bucket of black coffee before washing. The antioxidants present in coffee help to rejuvenate your dull and lifeless jeans and also restore the colour to a certain level.

10. Brighten up your white clothes

If your white clothes have turned grey or yellowish over time, here is a quick hack to whiten and brighten them. Simply add ½ - 1 spoon of lemon juice to the detergent water and soak the cloth for 20 minutes. A combination of lemon and powerful detergent will instantly brighten up the fabric and give a new look.
