Bollywood Style Notebook: Great Looks To Steal From 2 States!

|

Chetan Bhagat's 2 States was one book that took India by storm. From mature middle aged ones to teens, everyone has had a taste of the book. When Dharma Productions decided to make a film based on the book, nothing could be better. I suppose Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor were the best choice Karan Johar could make and no one doubts his wise judgement. 2 States, the film, was one of the most successful films, it had a final domestic nett of ₹1.01 billion (US$15 million).

All that aside, today we're going to discuss the fashion aspect of the film. Yes, 2 States did influence trends and fashion and we're going to decode all of it today on our feature "Bollywood Style Notebook" and show you what we mean. Manish Malhotra designed all the looks for the movie and he's done a fantastic job. Ananya (Alia Bhatt) gave us so much inspiration for our wardrobes and her effect is still quite loud and clear. Let's look at what made 2 States such a fashionable film.

Skirts

Skirts

This is one of the most popular still from the movie. Why? Well, apart from the electricity between Arjun and Alia which is so obvious, it's her amazing outfit. We love this skirt and top ensemble and we think it's great for anyone who loves desi fashion for weekends, office, college or dates.

Most of Ananya's skirts are plain with an intricate border full of Indian embroidery. This is what makes Manish Malhotra awesome; the fact that he can take a plain skirt and make it look this great. Can you feel the whole Indian Bohemian vibe?

This indigo skirt's a must have for all of you who love Indian fashion. Indigo is super versatile and you can't go wrong with it. All through college Ananya is seen dressed in long skirts teamed up with plain tops and we think that this has inspired enhough people to go out and pick bright coloured skirts for all occasions.

This skirt and tank is a super cute way to look girlie as well as casual. We love the ruched fabric of the skirt and the fitted tank. The belt adds charm and cinched the waist so the wearer doesn't look chubbier than they are. Her messy waves are romantic and her make-up light; perfect for day time outings.

Ananya is seen wearing kurtis when she returns to Chennai to live with her parents. These elegant pieces make for great outfits, especially for work and college. Take tips from her bright coloured kurtis so that you can look youthful, flirty and graceful at the same time.

A pastel kurti is a must have this season. This white and pink kurta is super feminine and light. Ananya's whole wardrobe is inspired by Indo-Western trends and hence, tunics and kurtis are the best picks.

Uff, this outfit is what makes Ananya a fashion diva! A lime green kurta with fuschia embroidery is what one needs for dull Monday mornings. We love her oxidised earrings and her demure make-up. Choose a statement ring like Ananya to really stand out in a crowd.

Sarees:

Sarees:

Sarees are the Indian woman's secret weapon to grab eye balls every where she goes. Similarly, Ananya wore lovely sarees through the film that made the audience drool. This navy blue saree is elegant and grand enough for weddings or family dinners. Get inspired by this B-town babe and don a saree at the next event you're attending.

Got an important date coming up? Follow Ananya's lead. This lavendar, pink and mehendi green saree combination is so gorgeous despite its simplicity. We love the plain, flowy fabric and the casual drape.

This wedding look was probably one of the best ones we've seen so far in Bollywood. This colour blocked effect, the rich shades of crimson, vermilion and saffron and the traditional jewels make for one stunning visual. We're hoping you're inspired to try a few looks from the movie, it not all. Also, do tell us of you liked what you saw. Cheers!
