₹13.7 Crore Vantara Green Camo Watch Features Anant Ambani’s Miniature Amid Lions, Tigers And 397 Gemstones
Luxury watches usually talk about time, skill and status. This one talks about animals and responsibility. The Opera Vantara Green Camo, made by Jacob & Co., is inspired by Vantara, Anant Ambani's wildlife rescue and care centre in Gujarat.
Every element on the dial of the watch points to a real effort to rescue, treat and protect animals. From the figures you see to the colours used, the watch carries the story of conservation right on its face.
A Watch Inspired By Vantara's Mission
Vantara, based in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is one of the largest wildlife rescue, care and rehabilitation initiatives in the world. Led by Anant Ambani, the project focuses on rescuing injured, abandoned and endangered animals, providing medical care and long-term rehabilitation.
Jacob & Co. conceived the Opera Vantara Green Camo as a tribute to this vision. The watch doesn't reference conservation in abstract terms-it directly reflects the people, animals and responsibility behind the initiative.
The Dial That Tells the Story
At the centre of the dial sits a hand-painted miniature of Anant Ambani. It's an unusual choice in watchmaking, but a deliberate one. The figurine represents stewardship-someone actively involved rather than watching from a distance.
Flanking the central figure are a lion and a Bengal tiger, two species closely associated with India's wildlife conservation efforts and with Vantara's rescue work. Their placement is not decorative filler; it anchors the watch firmly to the cause it represents.
Gemstones Used Like a Landscape
Instead of traditional enamel or printed textures, the watch uses gemstones to build its visual identity. The green camouflage motif surrounding the dial is crafted from 397 hand-set stones, totalling 21.98 carats.
These include:
- Demantoid garnets
- Tsavorites
- Green sapphires
- White diamonds
Together, they create a layered, organic pattern that mirrors forest terrain rather than a polished luxury surface. The effect is detailed without being loud-technical, but rooted in nature.
Exclusivity and Value
The Opera Vantara Green Camo is a one-of-one bespoke creation. Jacob & Co. has not released an official price, but multiple credible estimates place its value at around USD 1.5 million, roughly ₹12-13.7 crore.
As with many Jacob & Co. statement pieces, the watch isn't positioned as a commercial product. It exists as a narrative object, something that captures a moment, a philosophy and a collaboration.
Why This Watch Stands Apart
What sets this timepiece apart isn't just its craftsmanship or its gemstone count. It's the fact that the watch doesn't borrow symbolism from history or mythology, it draws directly from a living, working conservation effort.
The Opera Vantara Green Camo asks the wearer or the person checking it out to take a moment and understand what the details stand for.
Luxury often celebrates legacy. This watch focuses on responsibility. By translating the mission of Vantara into a physical object, Jacob & Co. has created something that sits at the intersection of art, activism and horology.
The Opera Vantara Green Camo may be rare and expensive, but its real value lies in the story it carries-one rooted in care, protection and long-term commitment to wildlife. And that's a conversation worth having, whether or not you ever wear the watch.
