World Earth Day Special: Palak Poriyal Recipe
It's World Earth Day today. This is a day when all of us must take the vow and put in all the possible efforts to save our Mother Earth. As global warming threatens extinction of human life, we must do all that we can to protect our Earth. And the only way we can do this is through the 'Go Green' mantra.
As a tribute to the World Earth Day, we at Boldsky present to you a 'green' recipe for this afternoon. Today, we have a spinach recipe which requires very less time and resources. This spinach poriyal recipe is prepared without water and gets cooked really fast. It saves fuel as well as water. Isn't it a perfect recipe for World Earth Day?

Serves: 3
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Spinach- 2 bunch (chopped)
- Onions- 2 (chopped)
- Garlic- 4 cloves (chopped)
- Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
- Chana dal- 1tbsp
- Urad dal- 1tbsp
- Coconut- 4tbsp (grated)
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Coriander powder- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Oil- 1tbsp
Procedure
1. Wash the spinach leaves properly with water and then chop it.
2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, chana dal and urad dal. Fry for a minute.
3. When the chana dal turns golden brown, add garlic, green chillies and onion. Sauté on medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
4. Then add the chopped spinach to it. Cook for 5 minutes.
5. Add salt, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Mix well and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
6. Now add the grated coconut and stir well. Cook for one more minute and then switch off the flame.
Tasty and nutritious palak poriyal is ready to be served. Serve this delectable dish with steamed rice.
