Aromatic Paneer Makhani Recipe

Paneer makhani is a delicious dish that comes from the state of Punjab. The paneer cubes are fried and mixed with the makhani gravy. The rich makhani gravy is prepared with exotic spices, tomatoes, onions and milk or cream. The aroma of spices like cardamom and clove makes it a must try side dish. You can serve paneer makhani with rotis or rice for the main course. Check out the recipe.
Paneer makhani, side dish recipe:

Serves: 2-3
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- Paneer- 250 gms
- Onions- 3 (grated)
- Tomatoes- 2 (grounded into a paste)
- Green chillies- 2 (chopped/slit)
- Curd- 2tbsp
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Turmeric powder- ¼tsp
- Fresh cream- 100gms
- Red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Garam masala- 1tsp
- Cardamom- 1 (powdered)
- Clove- 1
- Bay leaf- 1
- Butter- 2tsp
- Ghee- 3tbsp
- Oil- for frying
- Water- 1 cup
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
- Heat oil in a frying pan. Cut the paneer into medium sized cubes. Fry the pieces till they turn golden brown and look crisp. Once done, strain and keep aside.
- Now, heat ghee in a frying pan. Season with cumin seeds, bay leaf, clove and cardamom.
- When the seeds start to splutter, add onions and saute on a medium flame till it turns golden brown.
- Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix and cook for a minute. Add the grounded tomato paste into the pan. Sprinkle red chilli powder, garam masala and add green chillies.
- Cook till the ghee floats on the top. Now add water, curd and cream. Mix all the ingredients well and bring it to boil. Stir continuously for a minute to prevent it from sticking on the pan.
- Once the gravy starts thickening, add the paneer cubes and mix gently. Cook for another 2-3 minutes and then top with butter.
Paneer makhani is ready too eat. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot.
