How To Shop For Grocery And Save?
Since we all thrive on food, grocery shopping is a necessity that we cannot avoid. Trip to a store is often time-consuming and takes up a substantial portion of your budget. However, by following a few simple steps, you can save a significant amount of money at the supermarket. But planning the budget is wise and a must, otherwise you will land up spending more.
I remember in my recent past when I was newly married, we used to go to the grocery and get confused as to what to buy and what not to buy. We used to spend most of our money on it and then everything would be kept unused. How much can we eat? Yes! This question is the answer. Once we know how much we can eat we can estimate the budget and plan according to that.
Shop once a week or less
Limiting the number of trips to the grocery store saves your pocket. One of the most critical and common mistakes is impulse buying, which can create havoc on your food budget. By limiting visits to the supermarket, you reduce this possibility and are forced to plan a list of things to buy. This allows you to concentrate on buying more items in bulk, which are generally less expensive.
Plan your meals
Plan your meals for the week and concentrate on buying only the items you need. When you get home, multiply your grocery bill by four and you will have a fairly accurate estimate of your monthly food costs. Every time you go grocery shopping, try to stay within this range.
Buy discounted items
Most stores send out fliers that advertise sale items on a weekly basis. Check them and mark specific sale items you need on your shopping list. By planning meals that include ingredients that are on sale, you can save up to 10% on each individual meal.
Make a shopping list
A shopping list will make sure that you remember to purchase all the items you need. Keep a list in the kitchen, jotting down items as they are used up. Check your cupboards and fridge to see what you do not have. Determine the quantity you need by checking for serving sizes and considering the number of people you are shopping for.
These are the basic tips and points that can make you a wise food budget planner. Store the food that you buy in such way so that you can prevent wastage.
