Holi Special Recipe: Pista Barfi
Barfi is a special Indian sweet prepared with khoya. It is one sweet which is a perfect choice for any occasion. As the festival of Holi is nearing, you all must be gearing up with delicacies to serve your guests. As sweets are the must have item on the menu, today we have a special barfi recipe for the festive season known as the pista barfi.
Pista barfi is prepared with khoya and of course the pistachios which have a soothing flavour of their own. Pista barfi is a prefect sweet recipe that you should have on your Holi party menu. Your guests will be definitely delighted to have these homemade pista barfis which is sure to make them crave for more.

So, take a look at this special Holi recipe of pista barfi and give it a try.
Serves: 15-17 barfis
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
- Pista- 1 cup
- Sugar- 1 cup
- Water- ½ cup
- Ghee- ¾ cup
- Khoya/mawa- ½ cup
- Cardamom powder- a pinch
- Green food color- few drops
Procedure
1. Blanch the pistas in hot water for about 5 minutes. Switch off the flame and keep it aside.
2. Carefully transfer the pistas from the water to a plate. Remove the skin of the pistas.
3. Roast the pistas in a pan on medium heat till they become crisp.
4. Switch off the flame and allow the pistas to cool down.
5. Now powder the roasted pistas in a blender and keep it aside.
6. Heat water in a deep bottomed pan and add sugar to it. Allow it to boil.
7. As the sugar solution reaches 1 string consistency, add the powdered pista, green food colour and khoya. Mix well.
8. Cook for about 15-20 minutes on medium flame.
9. Slowly add the ghee, cardamom powder and stir for another 8-10 minutes.
10. As the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan, switch off the flame.
11. Grease a plate with a little ghee and pour this prepared mixture on it.
12. Spread the mixture thickly on it.
13. Allow it to cool. Then cut out the barfis in desired shapes.
Pista barfi is ready to be served. Enjoy this delicious sweet recipe on this Holi with friends and family.
