Dates Halwa: Dessert Recipe For Eid
How about a sweet treat for Eid? The festival of Eid connects to a number of mouthwatering desserts like seviyan, shahi tukda, ras malai, laddoo, sheer khurma etc. Traditionally most Eid sweets are high on sugar and it is definitely a welcome treat after one whole month of fasting. To add to this long list of delightful desserts, we have an awesome sweet treat for you made of dates.
Dates halwa is a delicious and nutritious dessert recipe to try out for Eid. To prepare this lip-smacking delight make sure that you use soft, de-seeded dates. If the dates you have are hard, then soak them in warm milk for 5-6 hours and then go on with the recipe. Dates halwa is not only delicious but also healthy at the same time since dates are a rich source of iron, vitamins and minerals.

So, prepare this delightful dates halwa on this Eid and have a rich and delicious treat.
Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 3 hours
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- Dates- 2 cups (de seeded)
- Hot milk- 2 cups
- Sugar- 1½ cups
- Ghee- ½ cup
- Cardamom powder- 1tsp
- Almonds- 5-6 (sliced)
Procedure
- Soak the dates in milk for about 3 hours. After that, grind it in a mixer into a thick paste
- Grease a plate with a tablespoon of ghee and keep it aside
- Heat ghee in a pan and put in the dates mixture
- Add sugar and keep stirring on a medium flame till the sugar dissolves completely
- Add a little milk if needed and keep stirring for another 20 minutes
- Add cardamom powder and almond slices; mix well
- After 5 minutes, switch off the flame
- Transfer the halwa to the greased plate and let it cool down completely
- Cut out square pieces of even sizes and serve
