Palak Chicken: Side Dish Recipe
It is the best season to enjoy numerous green vegetables to the fullest. You will find lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower and the loved spinach in this season. Spinach which is commonly called palak in India is used in many side dishes.
Spinach is one of the superfoods which is healthy and has numerous nutritional benefits. If you are a non-vegetarian, then the palak and chicken will be a treat for your taste buds. Palak chicken is one of the lip smacking dishes which has the flavour of lemon, ginger and garlic which is mixed with marinated chicken pieces. If you want, you can make it a thick gravy or try the dry palak chicken recipe as well. Here is the palak chicken gravy recipe for main course.
Palak Chicken: Main Course Recipe

Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
- Chicken- 250gms (boneless and cut in cubes)
- Palak- 500 gms (boiled)
- Ginger and garlic paste- 2tsp
- Onion- 2
- Curd- 1tbsp
- Green chillies- 3-4
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Coriander powder- 1tsp
- Sugar- a pinch
- Lemon juice- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Bay leaf- 1
- Fresh cream- 1tsp (for garnishing)
Procedure
- Marinate the chicken pieces with salt, lemon juice and ginger-garlic paste for 30 minutes.
- Make a paste of spinach and green chillies. Keep aside.
- Make a paste of onion and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a frying pan. Season with cumin seeds and bay leaf.
- Now saute the onion paste for 3-4 minutes on a medium flame.
- Add the spinach paste and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Add turmeric powder and mix well.
- Slowly add the chicken pieces and mix all the ingredients gently. Cook on a low flame for 20-25 minutes. Cover the pan with a lid to cook chicken pieces easily.
- Whisk curd with sugar and add into the pan. Mix and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add salt, coriander powder and mix. Slowly pour water and bring it to boil. Boil till the gravy thickens.
- Once done, put the pan off flame.
- Garnish with fresh cream.
Palak chicken is ready to eat. Serve hot with rice or with roti.
