'Cankles' For Your Feet

By Super

Boots
A Melbourne-based designer has created boots for people with larger calves and ankles. A survey revealed that more than 60 per cent of Aussie women aged between 15 to 55 have trouble, or know someone who has difficulty, finding boots to fit their legs.

Amanda Bennetts faced the same problem before she began designing boots for "cankles."

"Initially I thought I was the only one with chunky calves, but when I mentioned it to a few of my friends, they too had the same problem," said Bennetts. "I felt a lot better knowing I wasn't the only one."

Catering to this common problem, I started making boots and sold them at markets.

Soon, the market was full of Bennetts Boots, which was the only wide calf boot.

These boots are five to 15 cm wider than the average boots. "We don't take a common boot, put a strip of elastic in it and call it wide calf," said Bennetts.

Bennetts' boots are made of high-end soft quality leather and are available in a range of colours. They comprise three calf widths to elongate the leg and full-length zips ensure they are easy to slip on and off.

They also have an anti-smell, anti-sweat lining and extra cushioning in the sole.

Bennetts said, "Fashion is about individuality and expressing yourself through your personal style and every woman deserves exclusive designs, which is why we limit the number of boots we make in every style."
