Uncover 5 Hidden Beauty Gems in Your Kitchen: Get a Glow with These Everyday Staples
Think beauty treatments and you imagine the vanity racks full of costly creams, masks, and serums. But what if we were to tell you that some of the most pocket-friendly and effective ingredients for your skin, body, and hair are available in your kitchen?
Listed below are the unconventional kitchen ingredients that will help you get the glow you always wished for:
Turmeric
Mostly associated with the Indian kitchen, turmeric is indeed a beauty powerhouse. Filled with anti-inflammatory elements and antioxidants; organic or home-ground turmeric is recommended in Ayurvedic skincare for treating pimples, acne, and scars and getting that glow.
Mix 1 teaspoon of raw turmeric with 2 tablespoons of yoghurt and 2 drops of honey. Apply the fine paste to your face and let it work for 15 minutes prior to rinsing with lukewarm water. This super DIY mask will give a glowing effect to your face plus reduce inflammation issues too.
Pro Tip - Since turmeric has a strong yellow pigment, consider wearing an old t-shirt (while applying a mask) to avoid staining the clothes.
Honey
Honey doesn't just add sweetness to your shakes or teas, it is an effective hydrating food ingredient. Used for its bacteria-fighting properties, honey works best for treating acne-prone skin and locks in the required moisture to the skin.
Apply a single layer of organic honey to the clean face. Let it rest on your skin for around 15-20 minutes and rinse it with warm water. This easy-to-do DIY beauty mask helps fight acne-causing bacteria and leaves the skin smooth and supple!
Pro Tip - Honey can also work as a natural lip balm to deal with cracked or chapped lip issues.
Apple Cider Vinegar
To balance the skin's natural pH levels or get rid of dirt buildup off your scalp, simply prefer to use apple cider vinegar. Preferred for its clarifying elements, you can use it for removing excess oil from your face.
Make a simple beauty paste using one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with two teaspoons of water and apply it to your skin with a clean cotton pad. Wash the natural solution after 15 minutes. This effective natural toner is perfect for fighting acne issues, tightening open pores, and restoring the skin's pH levels.
Bonus - Post shampooing, mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a mugful of water and rinse the hair with it.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is not just for cooking delicious and healthy recipes; it is an understated beauty hero as well! Packed with vitamin E and antioxidants, olive oil is perfect for nourishing your body!
Massage your scalp with warm extra-virgin olive oil. Let it work its magic for at least 30 minutes before cleansing the hair, This simple hair treatment promotes a healthy scalp and gives the required nourishment to dry hair.
Pro Tip - Use extra virgin olive oil to remove the makeup and keep your face clean and blemish-free.
Oatmeal
Beyond being a nutritious breakfast, oatmeal works wonders as a mild exfoliant and calming ingredient for those with delicate skin. It is perfect for soothing eczema or inflamed skin because of its anti-inflammatory qualities.
Make a paste by combining 1 tablespoon of freshly crushed oatmeal with milk or water. Keep the DIY beauty mask on to your face for 20 minutes. Gently rub it in circular motions over your face, and wash it off with water.
Pro Tip - Oatmeal-milk mask is a great exfoliator treatment to remove dead skin cells and make your skin soft and rejuvenated!
