Skip The Wipes! 5 DIY Makeup Removers That Cleanse And Calm
Applying makeup is all fun and glorious but removing it feels tedious and tiring. Not to mention the exposure your skin receives with the cosmetic solutions filled with chemicals. So what's the better way out? Simply raid your kitchen to find ingredients that will effortlessly melt away those glam layers!
Say bye to glam and hello to glow with these skin-loving solutions!
Honey And Milk Magic Cleanser
Milk bath is an ancient beauty tradition but continues to be a relevant ritual. Rich in lactic acid, milk not only hydrates but gently exfoliates the skin. Whereas honey adds nourishment and is filled with antibacterial properties that heal the skin affected by not-so-skin-friendly cosmetics.
Blend 2 tablespoons of raw milk with 1 teaspoon of organic honey. Apply the mixture with a cotton pad and create circular motions to allow the mix to work on the face and neck. This all-natural makeup remover dissolves blush, foundation, and even lipsticks. Rinse with cold water and pat dry.
Olive Oil and Aloe Balm
This interesting combo is perfect for wiping away the waterproof makeup. Olive oil is quite effective on lifting off the layers of eyeliner and mascara, while aloe vera unclogs the pores formed with makeup. Plus it reduces the redness or irritation, especially for sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Mix equal parts of extra virgin olive oil with aloe vera gel. Form a creamy paste or balm and apply it with your fingertips. Allow it to work for at least 2 minutes before cleansing it with a damp soft cloth.
Green Tea And Rice Water Wipe
This cleansing hack works both as a makeup remover and skincare. Green tea is a good source of antioxidants, while rice water is good for brightening the skin.
Brew half a cup of green tea and allow it to cool.
Mix it with 2 teaspoons of rice water (the water remainder post uncooked rice rinse). Store in a jar or spray bottle. Soak a cotton pad and apply it over the skin. This unusual makeup remover is ideal for removing all-natural or light makeup.
Cucumber And Hazel Cleanse
For a spa-like cleanse, cucumber juice mixed with witch hazel is both calming and cleansing. Cucumber hydrates, while witch hazel tones and clarifies. To get a spa-like cleansing experience, use a fine blend of cucumber and witch hazel. Cucumber soothes, while witch hazel clarifies and tones the skin.
Grate a medium size cucumber and sieve the juice. Mix 2 tablespoons of cucumber juice with 1 teaspoon of witch hazel. Dip a cotton pad or cloth in the blend and wipe away simple or heavy makeup. This cool combo soothes inflamed skin and wipes away all the makeup without the need for harsh rubbing.
Oats And Coconut Scrub
A skin that requires extra care, this nourishing scrub cleanses and exfoliates both! Coconut cream soothes and softens, while oats remove the dead skin cells and take off makeup effortlessly.
Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut yoghurt with 1 teaspoon of powdered oats. Gently massage the blend over your face, massaging in circular motions. Let it sit on your skin for at least 2-3 minutes and rinse well with a gentle cleanser. This makeup cleansing hack removes the cosmetic glam and works as a nourishing mask as well!
