Get thick eyebrows with these mentioned tips, take a look and try them out.

By Sindhuja Shekhawat

Eyebrows are one of the most important features of your face. They highlight your eyes and bring out your cheekbones. They tie the whole look of your face together. You must have noticed that eye makeup looks incomplete if the brows are unkempt.

Even if you are in a hurry and you simply do your brows, the face looks fresh enough. Eyebrows are easy to maintain if shaped right in the first place. If gone wrong, they take a long time to be fixed.

We all wish for amazingly defined brows like those that celebrities sport. Well, here is some help with that. The process requires some practice and some trial and error, but in the end, it is all worth it.

1. Grow Them Thick
In order to be able to get a good shape for your brows, you need to let them grow first. There needs to be hair to work with, otherwise you'll probably end up with a perpetually surprised look! It is the usual result of working with scanty brows.

Tips For Growing Thick Brows

  • Keep them moisturized. Apply cold-pressed oils or petroleum jelly before going to bed. Castor oil and black seed oil are the best growth promoters. Petroleum jelly works great as well.
  • Resist plucking! While it is understandable that you will want to remove unsightly strays, it is suggested that you resist the urge.
  • If you bleach your face, be extra careful around the brows. Even the slightest accidental bleaching can cost you at least 1-2 months more. You will have to pluck the bleached strands and wait for new ones to grow back. Not to mention, you would be sporting a crooked brow the entire time you wait.
  • Although the growth remedy mentioned above works great, you can also try some brow-growth serums available in the market to give the process an extra push.

2. Shape Them
Shape your brows according to the shape of your face. Brows frame your face - if you choose the wrong frame, the picture inside will not look nice. Each type of face goes with a particular kind of brow.

The most important step when shaping the brows is the placement of the arch. If you get it right, it will highlight your features; but if you mess it up, you should end up with a very weird expression on your face as if someone has taped your forehead to place them like that, it won't look natural at all. Any brow shape, first and foremost, needs to look natural on the face.

How To Shape Your Brows
- First, take a ruler and mark the center of your forehead between the brows (with an eye pen-cil). Place the ruler at this point and mark where it ends at the tip of your nose. This will be a very important reference point, to figure out the edge of your nostrils.

- To mark the outer edge of your nostril, find the point on your nostril that lies the farthest from the centre that you marked earlier. It is too much work, yes, but believe me, it is this ex-tra work done in preparation that makes all the difference.

- Place the ruler in such a way that it lines with the outer edge of your nostril and the inner corner of your eye. The point where the ruler now touches your brows is the starting point of your brows.
- Similarly, line the outer edge of your nostril and the outer corner of your eye to mark the ending point of your brows.

- The highest point of your arch should lie in line with the outer edge of your nostril and your pupil.

- When you have these points, draw a line to join them. Depending on the thickness you want, you can move the start and end points a little up and down but not sideways. Ideally, brows are 0.5 to 0.75 cm thick but feel free to go with what works for you.

Brow Shapes According To The Face Type

Round face: Since this type of face doesn't have any sharp contours, high and sharp arches give it the much-needed dimension.

Oval face: An oval face does not need much highlighting. Lightly defined brows with soft arches work best for this type.

Square face: This type of face has a sharp jaw. In order to balance that you need straight brows that have a slightly curved edge to highlight the eyes that are often the prominent features of this face type.

Long/rectangular face: This face type needs something to balances its length. Flat and straight brows look great on people with a rectangular face.

Diamond face: Diamond face shape has a lot of natural contours. But surprisingly enhanc-ing those contours works better than subduing them with straight brows. Try to make a kind of diamond with the eyebrows, taking your chin as its bottom point. To make the di-amond shape, make the arches slightly angled.

Heart face: The same logic as above applies here. Try to make a heart with the brows and chin. The only difference is that instead of angles, the arches need to be curved.

Common Mistakes In Brow Shapes
- Arches that don't match the face can throw your entire look off. Avoid arches that are set too in the front or too in the back.
- Brows that are too wide set can make you look squinted.
- If you leave your brows too thick, they will overshadow all the other nice features of your face.
- If the brows are too thin, they will draw too much focus to the empty space above your eyes. Again, taking the focus away from your face.
- Do not try to make your brows look identical. Each of your brows is unique. They are meant to look similar to each other.

3. Fill Them
After you have patiently waited for your brows to grow and have carefully shaped them, comes the fun part. Filling them! To fill your brows, first comb them out with a spoolie, so that the prod-uct goes on uniformly. The last thing you want is clumped brows. Place a setting product on the brows to hold the filler on the strands. Now, apply the brow powder. Even if you are using a pencil, it is a good idea to use a setting product.

What To Remember

Avoid Over-plucking
This is the most common and the most drastic mistake one makes while tending to their brows. Always draw a line with an eyebrow pencil to mark the edge of the brows. Only pluck the hairs that lie outside this line.

Avoid Overfilling
Do not use too much product in hopes of achieving that dramatic effect. We all have done that, I know. However, that can only look good on Halloween. Remember when filling brows, a little goes a long way.

Choose The Right Shade
Another thing to remember is picking the right shade for your brows. Most people tend to buy the exact shade of their brows, but actually, you need to buy a shade lighter. For example, people with black brows should buy gray or charcoal shades.

Choose The Right Formula
This one is often overlooked at but it is important. For those who have fine hair, using powder fill-ers can be a problem, whereas those with thick bushy eyebrows can not work with pencil fillers. So choose a formula that works for you. There are all kinds available in the market - powder, gel, pencil and even spray. The only way to make an informed choice is by trying them. Although some obvious choices as mentioned above can be eliminated.
