Apart from the argument that children who sleep with her parents will become overly dependent, parents now realise the benefits of co-sleeping with baby.

Co-sleeping will keep your baby safe in their bed. It will increase the secure feeling of your little one, making them more confident. It will allow you to respond to the needs of your baby in the night. If you let your baby sleep in a separate room, it will increase your anxiety and stress as well. Consider letting your baby sleep in a separate bed or room only when they are mature enough to stay away from your warmth.

Feeding: Before going to bed, make sure that your baby is not hungry. Or else, you both will have a disturbed sleep. You can put them to sleep while breastfeeding. Co-sleeping will let you feed your baby without losing much of your sleep.

Safety: Before co-sleeping with your baby, make sure that you both are safe in the bed. Make necessary arrangements, so that the baby will not fall out of bed. Never take a risk by sleeping with your baby on a sofa or armchair.

No sedatives: If you are planning for co-sleeping with your baby, it is very important that you should not be taking any sedative medications or drugs. It may distress your perception and may cause drowsiness or affect depth of sleep.

Be alert: Co-sleeping with your baby will be peaceful, if you are alert and vigilant on the bed. If you are excessively tired, it is better to avoid co-sleeping with your baby. Seek the help of your partner to respond to the needs of the baby.

No smoking: If you are a smoker in the bedroom, staying away from co-sleeping with your baby is the best thing that you can do. Never smoke while you are in the bedroom of your baby. Passive smoking will cause serious health complications in your baby.

Baby’s health: While preparing for co-sleeping, you have to consider some health issues of your baby. Avoid co-sleeping if your baby was born premature, had a low birth weight. This is one of the important parenting tips for co-sleeping with your baby.

Be comfortable: Keeping yourself comfortable is very important while co-sleeping. Understand that you have to wake up to satisfy the needs of your baby in the night. Keep your baby comfortable by dressing them in warm clothes.

Safe sleeping positions: It is important to follow safe sleeping positions, if you are planning for co-sleeping with your baby. Experts say that it is better to put them down to sleep on their back to avoid risks of SIDS.
