Simple Ways To Clean Your Sleeping Bag
Your sleeping bag, just like most bedding components, needs to be washed at least once in three weeks. As such, there are specific things that need to be followed while cleaning your sleeping bag. In this article, we look at the steps to clean a sleeping bag. By following these steps, you can rid your sleeping bag of dirt and uninvited bacteria and germs.
The method to wash your sleeping bag isn't all that difficult really. It involves just about five-six steps to achieve what is needed. Let us go ahead and look at these things to follow while washing your sleeping bag. Here are a few steps to wash your sleeping bag. Read on...

Cold Water
Fill a bucket with cold water. Cold water is best for cleaning purposes as it helps loosen bonds between the fabric and dirt. Once you fill the bucket with cold water, add half a cup of soap water. You can add some detergent as well.
Dip It Completely Inside
The next step is to place your sleeping bag inside the bucket. You will have to use a large bucket for this purpose. Make sure every part of the sleeping bag is in contact with the water mixed with soap or detergent. Zip the bag open and allow water to seep into the inside as well.
Cold Water Again
Once you've treated your sleeping bag with detergent or soap water, remove it from the bucket, empty the bucket and add cold water again. This time, just allow the bag to remain in cold water for at least half an hour. Once that is done, remove the sleeping bag and flush out as much water as possible by stamping on it.
Drying
Allow the bag to dry under the sun. If it isn't dried under the sun, the sleeping bag does not dry properly and will emit a foul smell. Dry it for at least one day before you use it again.
Points To Remember
You can make use of a washing machine too. The method is same as that of drying clothes. Do not make use of a fabric softener as it can spoil the texture of your sleeping bag.
