If there is a discomfort in your eyes or if you have a burning and swelling sensation, or if you can see your eyes turning red, then you should not neglect it.
It is always better to take precautionary measures to prevent any eye-related infection during the monsoon season.
Therefore, today at Boldsky, we bring to you 8 easy tips on protecting your eyes during the monsoon season. Check here:
1. Wash Your Eyes:
Once you get drenched or if the dirt from the roadside has splashed into your eyes by a moving vehicle, the first thing you need to do is to wash your face and eyes properly as soon as you reach home. This will prevent dirt from entering your eyes.
2. Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes:
It is very common among all of us to keep rubbing our eyes frequently with our hands when we have a certain itching sensation. This should be avoided completely to prevent any infection.
3. Do Not Share Towels/Handkerchiefs:
Avoid sharing your personal towels and handkerchiefs, especially with people who are infected with various eye infections. This might lead to further spread of the infections.
4. Use Clean Contact Lens:
For those using contact lenses, it is always best to first clean it and use. Avoid standing near the water-clogged areas, as the water splash from vehicles might hit the lens and eyes and cause underised infections.
5. Take Care Of The Food That You Eat:
It isn't just about the external care for your eyes, but taking care of the eyes internally is also required. Eating road-side food is strictly a no-no during the monsoon season.
6. Use Sunglasses:
When you are out during the monsoons, it is always good to protect your eyes from the gusty winds and dust by using sunglasses. It helps prevent dust particles from entering and affecting your eyelids.
7. Don't Opt For Self-medication:
It is not advisable to use eye drops that are available over the counter without consulting a doctor. This might further aggravate the infection and cause uncalled for symptoms.
8. Get Your Eyes Checked In Case Of Pain Or Discomfort:
If the pain and discomfort in your eyes continue for a prolonged period, even after splashing and cleaning the eyes with clean water, then it is better to see an ophthalmologist immediately.
