Reasons For Painful Periods That You Must Know
The pain at that time of the month is not something that women want to go through. Sometimes, it is described as a discomfort rather than a pain. Every woman is unique and hence, what she feels during her period will solely depend on her mood.
Her symptoms can sometimes be genetic, and will be the same as her mother’s. The painful periods cause a lot of discomfort and stress, especially in teenagers and young adults.
Painful periods have symptoms such as mild or strong cramping, bloating and irritability. This is quite common for any women. The process of the uterine wall being scraped away will indeed be a painful process. Getting your periods regularly with the pain and slight discomfort is indeed a healthy sign.
However, in some extreme cases, crippling cramps, heavy bleeding and serious fatigue can also occur. This is not normal and will require medical assistance. Menstrual pain can be a serious problem and in extreme cases, it will need medical attention and medication.
It is always better to diagnose the reason for painful periods to get treatments at the earliest. The following are a few of the reasons for painful periods.
YOGA POSES TO RELIEVE MENSTRUAL CRAMPS
Endometriosis – The endometrium is the lining of the uterus. Though there is no real reason for the pain to occur, the main issue could be where the endometriosis is located and how it is presented. Displaced endometrium can cause adhesions, chronic inflammation and internal bleeding; all causing pelvic pain. This is one of the main reasons for painful periods.
Adenomyosis – This is similar to endometriosis, except for the fact that the endometrium is found on the lining of the uterus. It is found deep within the uterine muscle. In women who suffer from this condition, the uterus will act like a bruised muscle. This will cause painful periods. Painful intercourse is another symptom of this condition.
Uterine Fibroids – Three out of four women will develop uterine fibroids, but the fact is that they will not show any symptoms. But, this can affect the monthly menstrual cycle, causing it to be a nightmare for some. This is one of the reasons for painful periods.
Copper IUD – This is one of the temporary and non-hormonal treatments to prevent pregnancy. This is placed in the uterus and can cause the menses to be heavier and painful, especially in the first few cycles after the insertion. This can also recur after many years of the insertion.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease – This is an infection on the female reproductive tract and is caused due to untreated sexually transmitted diseases. This infection can cause scar tissue near the pelvis. During menstruation, the hormones will influence the uterus, scar tissues and adhesions.
Carcinoma – Carcinoma can also be one of the many reasons that cause painful periods. This will usually be associated with other symptoms as well. This can also cause infertility and painful intercourse. Seeking medical help is important in this case.
It is important to diagnose the reason of your painful periods without much delay. This will help you to get the necessary medical assistance at the earliest.
