When cooking king prawns, one of the things you need to keep in mind is to ensure that you have taken off the shell. If you have bought them raw, take off its shell, boil some water in a pan and boil the king prawns for about two minutes until they turn pink.

Prawns In Black Bean Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp

  • Onion - 1 (chopped)
  • Clove - 4 nos
  • Garlic - 1 nos (crushed)
  • Black beans sauce - 1 tsp
  • Chilli - 2 nos (sliced)
  • Green Pepper - 1 (chopped)
  • King Prawns - 10-12 (boiled)
  • Chicken stock - 1 nos
  • Cornflour - 3 tbsp
  • Soya Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar - a pinch

Method

  1. You first need to heat a small amount of oil in a wok on a medium flame. Let the oil turn hot.
  2. Now drop in the onions and saute them on medium heat till its turn pinkish in colour.
  3. When the onions change colour, drop in the crushed garlic, bean sauce and the sliced chillies. Fry these ingredients for about two minutes.
  4. Now add in the the green peppers and gently stir the mixture together on a low flame.
  5. Drop in the boiled king prawns and fry it with the mixture for ten minutes.
  6. Pour to the above mixture a ladle of chicken stock and leave to boil for ten minutes.
  7. Slowly pour in the cornflour mixture. Once this mixture is well incorporated the sauce will begin to thicken.
  8. When the mixture thickens add in the salt, sugar and the soya sauce.
  9. Once done, switch off the flame and serve.
